Your review says that you believe the Diabelli Variations were on the program to attract fans of the play "33 Variations." That's not correct. Kovacevich's program was announced last November, several months before "33 Variations" opened. The Diabellis are on the program because 1) he is touring the program you heard at Tanglewood and 2) he re-recorded the piece last year, forty-odd years after his first recording, which is one of the best and most famous.
